recommended - on line links are to amazon. but you can check with your favorite store as well
1. TUNER - REQUIRED.
Metronome preferred but optional for beginners. For advanced students
a metronome is a must for its manifold benefits.
Intellitouch PT-1 -with backlight and the best one they make
intellitouch
PT 2-Light version of above costs less
intellitouch
-different model provides an alternative but some have a buzzing
sound issue
costs less-the Crafter tuner some of these also make a buzzing noise when the bass strings are played loud.
All these tuners work on vibration and are
the most reliable available at a reasonable price from about 27-60
the most expensive one being the best and first on the list.
these tuners are far superior to the "credit card" style
tuners which should be avoided unless playing an electric (if
they have a direct in jack)
2. BOOKS
Learning to read music- for beginners
Kodaly method-excellent and easy to understand
along with Practical Theory by Sandy Feldstein
